Something I thought about:
- This week involved a lot of juggling, and parts of it really weren’t great. Things got done, and everything is fine, but I’m still struggling with balance. In Lausanne, during a week like this, I’d have headed to the lake to recenter — just 10 minutes from home. Or perhaps walked around the old town taking photos. Here… well, everything seems to require more effort — more activation energy. Everything is a drive away, and once you get there, at least in our town, nothing is really walkable. I get why folks in the US feel so disconnected and lonely, which makes me think that we should get to the city more often. When? I’m not sure. But I need to start doing more in-person things outside of home and aside from running errands…
Something I did:
- Watched the Super Bowl
- Had the child home for a surprise snow day (I was actually fine with the extra day off from school — nice to get an extra hour of sleep in the morning)
- Worked on a really complex deployment with several team members
- Tested & debugged
- Worked on the company newsletter
- Got started on some data modeling
- Went to Olin to see a former student perform in Story Slam and caught up with several former students, which was really nice
Something I read:
- Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
- More of my slow reads: Wolf Hall, War & Peace, This Little Art, and The Preparation of the Novel
