Something I thought about:

  • This week was busy and also had so many good things. I got to spend time with people I care about and in community with folks who care deeply about writing, children, and teaching/learning. I often miss Switzerland: the landscape, the infrastructure, individual friends, and students, but when I was in Switzerland, I really missed my community and having spaces where I could fit without explanation.

Something I did:

  • Went to book group
  • Went to a friend’s reading
  • Meetings, PMing, work writing
  • Celebrated my 20th wedding anniversary
  • Visited a castle and a beach, where we saw some remnants of a 114 year old shipwreck that recently emerged due to erosion
  • Headed to NY for the Kweli Color of Children’s Literature conference

Something I read:

  • Caught up on slow reads: This Little Art by Kate Briggs, Preparation of the Novel by Roland Barthes, Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel, and War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
  • A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik
  • The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik
