Something I thought about:
- Now that the school year is in full swing, I’ve been thinking a lot about community and all of the different kinds we have — how the hyperlocal community we’ve found in our immediate neighborhood and our town pleasantly surprised us and how we have friends from college or some other now distant past (usually connected to Cambridge) connections, and these communities and networks have persisted. There are things I miss about Switzerland and probably always will, but I am glad to feel more connected and less isolated.
Something I did:
- Helped throw the neighborhood block party, which was awesome
- A lot of meetings, PMing, and testing
- Met some very interesting new folks in both work and personal contexts
- Went to the middle school open house
- More running around between extracurriculars, parent meetings, etc.
- Finished our final round of Swiss taxes. What a relief to have that off of my plate.
Something I read:
- Slow reads: How to Live Together by Roland Barthes, The Long Form by Kate Briggs, The Mirror and the Light by Hilary mantel, and War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
