August 9, 2026
Something I thought about:
- This was really only the first week of August, but I can already feel the rush of rentrée — that shift in energy. It should happen a little later — in Switzerland, August was vacation month, and the shift came in early September — but everyone I’ve been talking to seems to be in back-to-school mode already. Is it because some US schools have already started? Or because Halloween decorations are already on store shelves? This summer felt oddly short, and I know it isn’t over yet, but we're already in transition mode.
Something I did:
- Continued PT
- Had some friends over — we hadn’t seen them in a few years, and they were only briefly in town, but it was really lovely to get even an evening with them
- Went to more medical appointments (all routine)
- Read
- Attended some meetings
- Did some more course planning/brainstorming
- Wrote some documentation
Something I read:
- The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
- The Odyssey adapted by Geraldine McCaughrean
- The Wanderings of Odysseus by Rosemary Sutcliff
- The 57 Bus by Dashka Slater
