Something I thought about:
- The week was a bit quieter (at last!), and I finally had some time to both write and to craft, which felt really good. It was the “off” week for most meetings, which gave me uninterrupted chunks of time to do deep work. I got so absorbed in writing that I lost time — it’s been a while since that’s happened — and my brain was happy. I have 10 weeks of summer ahead, and I’m thinking about how best to use this time — especially as every week will have a different schedule. I’m still closing out several things, but I want to keep the writing, gardening, reading, crafting, etc. momentum going. I was better about structuring time this week. I think I spend too much time planning what to do with my time and not enough time doing what I want, and all I really need to plan is when I will do the thing rather than planning the thing out and then trying to find time to do it.
Something I did:
- There was no school on Memorial Day, and we went to the New England Botanic Gardens for the first time. It was lovely.
- I successfully debugged some web stuff.
- I finalized summer camp plans.
- I finished a craft project I started months ago and then abandoned due to general busyness.
- I completed a draft of a piece. It ended up being about twice as long as I’d intended, but that was the space needed for this story.
- I went to the library used book sale and got quite a haul of MG & YA books.
- The kid had a soccer game and a piano recital, and the weekend involved a lot of kid-related running around and household errands.
- I also baked and cooked more than usual, which was nice.
- I kept up with the gardening tasks I’d set for myself.
- We saw our first snapping turtle of the season, two solo turkeys (one while driving and another in a neighbor’s yard), and another bald eagle. This is one of my favorite things about where we live.
