Something I thought about:
- I’m attempting to get back into a rhythm here, and the last few days of the week involved some fairly intense context switching, so I spent today trying to regroup. Right now I’m trying to plan for the upcoming heatwave. Saturday was gorgeous, and now the temperatures are climbing, and I have a good bit of gardening work to do — both routine and in preparation of some planting and transplanting to come. Some of what we planted last year didn’t survive, and there are a couple of other things that we’re planning to shift. Recent weather has complicated some of those plans, and I’m adjusting — garden time flows differently, and I prefer slow, contemplative time to the typically-frantic, USian speed of life. I want to reserve expanses of slow time.
Something I did:
- Rearranged my office for the second time in as many weeks. The layout is more open, and it’s better organized by function. Let’s see if it sticks.
- Spent a day shadowing some folks, which was both intense and informative.
- Attended a couple of meetings.
- Thought about gardens and gardening and made a few plans.
- Met some new neighbors. Hung out with neighbors.
- Went to soccer practice and a game.
- A lot of house-related organizational tasks.
- Went to the library and checked out many books.
Something I read:
- More chapters of Roots, my current slow read
- Poetry magazine
- Started Attention: Writing on Life, Art, and the World by Anne Enright
- Started Gaudy Night by Dorothy L. Sayers
