Reflection:
It’s major transition time, and I’m simplifying my weeknotes format as their purpose changes once again.
When I was writing my dissertation, this was a space to work publicly, which was important as a scholar who mostly worked alone. When I joined a software company, I realized I didn’t need to track my work here (each week sounded fairly similar, especially because I couldn’t talk about specific client projects) — but I was burning out between work, parenting, and many volunteer commitments — so this became a space to track my breaks and to make sure I took them, and I had a period of writing "anti-weeknotes." I changed back to regular weeknotes when I needed structure and accountability.
I’m starting something new tomorrow. I’ll be teaching, so it won’t make sense to post work-related accountability here — planning, prep, teaching, and grading will all get done — but I would like to keep this going. So instead of having a list of things I did (or didn't do) in a week, I’m relaxing the structure to continue to track reading and to simply check-in.
So. It's raining fairly hard right now. I pushed through a lot yesterday so that I could have a quiet day at home today – no errands or running around – and the rain is rather nice. I'm getting organized and doing things like laundry and responding to email while watching a soccer game or listening to an audiobook. It's a much needed slow day with plenty to fill it but nothing urgent.
