Something I thought about:
- Finally back to writing and revision again this week with two very different papers on deck. I’ve been thinking about how as a child of immigrants, this path — not academia, but humanities scholarship — was so entirely opaque to me. Science, math, engineering — all of that was clear. I had models and knew what that life looked like. This was neither natural nor easy, and I both like and feel completely frustrated by the learning curve.
Something I did:
- Wrote a paper
- Gave students feedback on their presentation outlines/proposals
- Ran a lot of errands
- Celebrated the child’s birthday
Something I read:
- Like pretty much every academic in the Humanities, I read that New Yorker essay.
