Thanksgiving week means Americans will be spending some time thinking about and sharing the things we’re grateful for, big and small. Today, I’m grateful for something small but important — winter sun.
I don’t like winter. I don’t like the cold, the layers, or the short, dark days. In the summer, I like to spend time outside exploring, but come winter, it’s a struggle to leave the flat. Honestly, it’s a struggle simply to leave my comforter and blankets in the morning. The days blend undifferentiated from grey to dark.
This week is unusual for November. It’s cold but sunny, which has made it a thousand times easier to get up in the morning, to brave the cold, tile floor, and to make it outside for whatever the day demands. I’m taking in as much sun as I can for however long it lasts and enjoying every second of brightness.
What are you grateful for this week?
