Amazon announced its Kindle Lending Library this morning. Here are the basics:

– They’re partnering with OverDrive to distribute content to libraries.
– Books will be available across all Kindle platforms, from apps to free downloadable software to actual Kindles.
– They plan to incorporate WhisperSync so borrowers can annotate books and later readers can access those annotations.
– The service will launch later this year.

Sounds great. Two questions:

– Does this also fall under the HarperCollins 26 checkout policy (which OverDrive addressed)?
– When will they begin lending Audible audiobooks? Because that would be amazing!
